My name is Wyatt Tremblay. I live in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. I am married to Paulette, my wife and friend of almost three decades. I have four children, Josh, Adam, Brittany and Justin. They have all grown into wonderful young adults – hence the lack of hair. (I joke!) I was born in Jasper, Alberta, and was dragged kicking and screaming to the Yukon many years ago. But, I am passionate about living here now. The natural beauty is breath taking, truly inspiring, and even intimidating at times. I have heard trees explode from a week of -50C temperatures, watched the ice break with thunderous applause on the Yukon River, seen bull-moose joust in fields of wild grass, and watched in awe, more than once, as a flock of seagulls chased a majestic bald eagle away from nesting grounds. It is an awesome place to live and has been a wonderful area to raise our children. Life in the North is an odd combination of the old and new, the modern and not so modern, the sophisticated and the Colourful Five Per Cent*. I try to weave my way through all of these domains, lingering neither long or with endearing affection in any one. I love the old, but I also love the new. I appreciate strength of character and erudition, but I also sometimes just gaze at the stars, thinking nothing in particular, while scratching two-day-old growth on my face. I love my community church, and the eclectic assortment of people who call it home, and enjoy singing and worshipping with them. Yes, winters are long, and summers far too short, but it’s these extremes that make living and creating here an adventure all its own. Wyatt |
